Cold-Water Fishing
There are several species of cold-water fish in the Finger Lakes. These special include brown trout, rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, and lake trout. Out of the 11 lakes, you’ll have the best luck catching these fish in the Skaneateles, Owasco, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka, Canandaigua, Canadice, and Hemlock Lakes.
Warm-Water Fishing
Popular warm-water fish in the Finger Lakes black bass, walleye, yellow perch, northern pike, chain pickerel, tiger muskies, and panfish. You’ll find some of the best bass fishing in the state at the Finger Lakes, which is why people love to fish here. Cayuga, Otisco, Conesus, and Honeoye are the lakes where you’ll find an abundance of bass lurking in the shallow weedy areas.
